According to an announcement by Taiwan’s IP Office (TIPO) dated October 5, 2020, the latest Amendment to Taiwan’s Design Examination Benchmark will take effect on and after November 1, 2020.
After the Amendment takes effect, design patent applicants may, under certain circumstances, submit fewer drawings than in the past, and will have more options in filing a divisional application.
More, applicants will be allowed to claim their CGI and GUI designs (“graphic image designs”) are to be applied to “computer software” so as to gain wider protection in the digital world.
